This month, Scone Age Thursday brings together two of Toronto’s most exciting local acts—spanning high-octane experimental soundscapes to raw, indie rock ’n’ roll.

Born in the bars and basements of Toronto, The Young Scones have been making loud, unapologetic rock ’n’ roll since 2022. With razor-sharp riffs, stomping rhythms, and snarling hooks, their sound is raw, infectious, and completely unfiltered. Drawing inspiration from The Beatles, The Clash, The Pixies, and T. Rex, with a modern edge pulled from BRMC, Jack White, and Arctic Monkeys, they deliver a high-voltage live show fueled by pure attitude. Fronted by Glaswegian expat Gary McGuinness alongside Brian Derro, Zac Lennon, and Marcelo Maltez, the band plays like a gang on a mission—making every show feel like the last night on Earth.

Also on the bill is BIG MILK, a harsh-noise hypnosis experiment disguising danceable rhythms and hummable melodies beneath layers of ultraviolence. It’s confrontational, strange, and oddly catchy—music that dares you to move while testing your limits.

Rounding out the night, Boston Church Scandal channels the spirit of rock ’n’ roll while weaving in elements of jazz and dance music. Their live shows are a transcendent, emotional journey—eclectic, electric, and anything but expected.
